Rangemaster.  Which Range Cooker?

Range cookers are just about the trendiest item in the kitchen, so there are a huge selection to choose from with size, fuel and price being the most important choices. Of course the space in your kitchen will dictate the size of range you need, although we have seen customers over the years order a huge ranges for tiny kitchens. Not a good idea, so it pays to stick to the size suited to your kitchen rather than what you might think is fashionable. The most popular size of range is between 90-110cm, and most makers cover these sizes. There are three fuel types to choose from, all gas, dual fuel (gas hob with electric oven/s) or all electric (sealed plate or ceramic). If you are choosing all electric or dual fuel, make sure that you have the correct electricity supply. The all electric models will definitely require a proper cooker point, and the dual fuel may do also depending on the power needed for the oven/s. Dual fuel models usually have electric oven/s with gas hobs, we are not aware of any maker offering electric hob with gas ovens. Most gas versions are available in LPG, so if it is not listed please contact us and enquire. If you are choosing a 90cm range, there will be a choice between single or double oven. The single ovens are often much cheaper, but there are some considerations which should be made. The large single oven on a 90cm range looks very practical, but is it? Consider that as the grill is combined inside the oven, you will not be able to grill and bake at the same time. Also having such a large cavity is great but you do not have a second oven to keep things warm in. The one advantage a large single oven does offer is the extra width, so if you cook large batches of cakes or bread they are ideal. However, the double ovens although more expensive, offer a much more practical and versatile choice.

Prices vary from around £400 up to several thousand, but the average price is around £1000.00. We feel that Rangemaster probably offer the best value for money range cooker on the UK market.
